In a study from late 2016 suggests that men are more likely to cheat than women. It wasn't said why men were more likely to cheat. According to the Associated Press and the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, 22 percent of men say that they've cheated on their significant other at least once during their marriage. Also, 14 percent of wives admit to straying during their marriage.
These statistics also suggest that people are most likely to have affairs with co-workers. Some people think because co-workers see each other so much and form friendships they are most likely used to cheat on their spouse with. As many as 36 percent of men and women say that they've had an affair with someone they work with. Somewhat surprisingly, 17 percent admit to having an affair with a sister-in-law or brother-in-law. That is in my honest opinion that is something I would not ever forgive.
Perhaps most common and very well known saying "once a cheater, always a cheater" appears to be true in fact. People who have cheated before are 350 percent more likely to cheat again than those that haven't. Which means once your spouse cheats on you they may do so again. Cheaters do not always change their ways though cases have proven they can.
I have heard several stories from friends and family where their spouse has cheated on them and they were making excuses for them. I have never understood that but maybe we care about someone so much we will overlook the bad things they do to us. My mother told me that we accept the love we think we deserve and that's why some people stay with cheating spouses. Also from a friends personal experience, she stayed with her, now ex-boyfriend, he manipulated her for so long it took her a long time to dump him.
Cheating happens whether we like it or not. We can try everything in our power to prevent it but sometimes even that isn't enough. Sometimes we think we love someone so much that we overlook the cheating. We may act oblivious to the cheating in the hopes of our other coming to their senses and stopping. In any case, cheating happens and we shouldn't blame ourselves for their actions.
